gentamicin sulphate10% +doxycycline hyclate 5% wps
Composition: Each gram powder contains: 100 mg gentamicin sulphate and 50 mg doxycycline hyclate. Spectrum of activity: Gentamicin is an antibiotic belonging to the group of amino glycosides. It has bactericidal activity against Gram-positive and Gramnegative bacteria (including: Pseudomonas spp., Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Serratia spp., E. coli, Proteus spp., Salmonella spp., Staphylococci). Furthermore it is active against Campylobacter fetus subsp. jejuni and Treponema hyodysenteriae. Gentamicin may be active against bacteria, which are resistant to other amino glycoside antibiotics (like neomycin, streptomycin, and kanamycin). Doxycycline is a tetracycline derivative, with bacteriostatic action against a large number of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (like Staphylococci spp., Haemophilus influenza, E. coli, Corynebacteria, Bacillus anthracis, some Clostridia spp., Actinomyces spp., Brucella spp., Enterobacter spp., Salmonella spp., Shigella spp. and Yersinia spp.. It acts also against Mycoplasma spp., Rickettsiae and Chlamydia spp.. Absorption after oral administration of doxycycline will be good and therapeutic levels will be attained quickly and resisted for a longer period, due to a relative long-serum half-life time. Doxycycline has a great affinity to lungtissues, therefore it is recommended especially for respiratory tract infections. Indications: Infections caused by micro-organisms susceptible to gentamicin and/or doxycycline. Gendox 10/5 is indicated especially with gastro-intestinal infections in calves and poultry and infections of the respiratory tract in poultry, calves and pigs. Contra-indications: Hypersensitivity to amino glycosides and/or tetracycline’s, renal dysfunctions, vestibular-, ear- or visus dysfunctions, liver dysfunctions, combination with potential nephrotoxic or muscle paralysing medicines. Side-effects: Kidney damage and/or ototoxicity, hypersensitivity reactions like gastro-intestinal disturbances or changes of intestinal flora. Dosage and administration: Orally through drinking water or feed. Medicated water should be used within 24 hours. Poultry: 100 g per 150 litres of drinking water, during 3-5 days. Calves: 100 g per 30 calves of 50 kg bodyweight, during 4-6 days. Pigs: 100 g per 100 litres of drinking water during 4-6 days. Withdrawal time: For eggs: 18 days. For meat: 8 days.
